Carilion Palliative Care Unit, Legacy Shawl Project https://www.carilionclinic.org Carilion Clinic's Project Legacy Shawl is looking for shawls, roughly 24 x 60 for patients near the end of life. Knitters are invited to donate a much needed gift to a patient receiving end-of-life care who is in need of contact, compassion, and comfort. The only stipulation is that the material used to make the shawl be soft and washable. Shawl kits are available at New River Fiber Company in Christiansburg, Wool Workshop in Roanoke, and Yarn Explosion in Roanoke. If you have some time to knit for those receiving end-of-life care, feel free to pick up a kit. When you are done, return the completed shawl to any of the previously mentioned yarn shops and a NoSo Knit volunteer will deliver them to the hospital. *As of March 24, 2016, 51 shawls have been donated to the Carilion Palliative Care Unit. Huge thanks to Kismet Fiber Works and David Simpson Hand Dyed for donating the yarn that made this project possible!
